Cyclists enjoyed car free pass road
Ride the Alps Moosalp - a complete success
On Sunday, June 6, 2021, the first edition of the Ride the Alps Moosalp took place. The road between Stalden and Moosalp was closed to motorized traffic for five hours and was open to cyclists for a free ride.
Around 450 participants tackled the 15 kilometers and 1,165 meters of elevation gain from Stalden to Moosalp. The start was at the sports field in Stalden. In bright sunshine and yet pleasant temperatures, the cyclists then enjoyed the ride on the car-free road. Whether sporty ambitious with the racing bike or leisurely with the e-bike, whether alone or with the whole family, the event offered the right opportunity for every bike fan. Arriving at Moosalp, the riders were greeted by a great atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to enjoy culinary delights in the finish area.
Prominent field of participants
Famous personalities also enjoyed the luxury of the car-free pass road. For example, former ski racer and Olympic champion Didier Défago and triathlete and Ironman winner Jan van Berkel tackled the route to Moosalp with his wife, former figure skater Sarah Meier, as ambassadors of the event. Jan van Berkel traveled with his whole family and pedaled from Stalden to the top of the pass with his 30 kilogram child trailer in tow. Other participants on the Moosalp included ultracyclist Simon Ruff, trail runners and ski tourers Martin Anthamatten and Victoria Kreuzer, and former professional cyclist and co-organizer Steve Morabito.
Satisfied organization
The organizers are fully satisfied with the event. The event went off without any accidents and the protection concepts worked without a hitch. Fabrizio Gull, head of tourism, was particularly pleased to be able to hold an event again after a long time. "It was a great feeling to be able to welcome all the participants to Moosalp and to experience the great atmosphere". Thanks to the elaborated protection concept, the event could also be held with the measures in force to protect against the corona virus and there were no large crowds.
