Tour de Suisse Climb Visp-Moosalp

In exactly one year's time, the Tour de Suisse will once again stop in the Upper Valais. On June 17, 2022, the professional cyclists will fight their way up a spectacular final climb from Visp via Törbel to the finish on Moosalp. The next day, the riders will then start the next stage from Visp. And you can already get in the mood for the event.

Start Tour de Suisse Climb

One year before the stage arrival at Moosalp, the Tour de Suisse Climb Visp-Moosalp will start. This is a timed route on the original Tour de Suisse race route 2022. Recreational athletes will have the opportunity to measure their time between Visp and Moosalp and can compare it with the times of the professional cyclists next year. As motivation to pedal a little faster, attractive prizes sponsored by Henzen Velo Sport Visp await the fastest three riders. Two VIP tickets for the stage arrival at Moosalp on June 17, 2022 will also be raffled off among all participants. Each participant will also receive the original Moosalpregion TDS 2022 drinking bottle as well as an energy drink from Visp Tourism and Trade. Furthermore, a free coffee will be served in one of the three restaurants on the Moos or Bürchneralp.

Frankiny gives time

The Tour de Suisse Climb was opened by professional cyclist Kilian Frankiny, ambassador of the Tour de Suisse. He fought his way out of competition from Visp to Moosalp in 1:09 hours at hot 34 degrees Celsius in the valley. Due to his training schedule, he was not able to go full throttle, but his personal record for the distance is 1:06 hours. If you would like to take up the challenge and compete with Kilian and other athletes from near and far, you can register now at tds-oberwallis.ch/tour-de-suisse-climb. The challenge runs until August 15, 2021.

Preparations in full swing

Meanwhile, the preparations for the stage arrival and the stage start are also in full swing. The two OCs from Visp and the Moosalp region are facing some challenges. Fabrizio Gull, Co-President of the Moosalp stage arrival committee, explains: "Above all, the space conditions on the Moosalp require good planning from us. Such an arrival at the finish line requires a lot of infrastructure, which has to be transported to Moosalp and set up there." However, the organizers are looking forward to next year's Tour de Suisse and are pleased to be able to present their region from its best side on such an occasion.
