The Moosalp region welcomes the Tour de Suisse

After 85 editions, the Tour de Suisse will have one more highlight: the Moosalp!
On the Friday of the Tour week in June 2022, the Moosalp region will welcome the fourth largest national tour in the world in the form of a stage arrival on the Moosalp. The cyclists will fight for victory on the final climb from Stalden, via Törbel to Moosalp. The Moosalp region is extremely happy about the acceptance and is preparing everything for a sports festival in a class of its own.

Since it was first held in 1933, the Tour de Suisse has been the scene of countless stories. Passion, hope, disappointment, pride, disgrace and joy - dramas and heroic stories have already been written on the Tour de Suisse route. The Moosalpregion and Visp have the opportunity to write another chapter of this success story in 2022, because the great national tour will be a guest at these two locations.

Excitement guaranteed
In addition to top-level sport with many international top stars, cycling fans and spectators will also be offered a great deal. Moosalp will be the stage finish of the Tour in June 2022, the start on the following day, a Saturday, will be in Visp. Both destinations have joined forces to form a joint and coordinating organization team to prepare the event. The organizers are looking forward to a sportive weekend, during which the spectators from near and far will be able to get close to the riders and teams on the Moosalp as well as in Visp and enjoy a varied entertainment program. The focus is on the big finish on Moosalp, and on Saturday the start of another stage will take place in Visp after the teams have completed a lap of honor through Visp.

Organizing committee in preparation
In the next two years, the local organizing committee will now prepare the event in close cooperation with those responsible for the Tour de Suisse. The steering committee includes the representing municipalities Bürchen, Törbel and Visp. On the part of "Moosalp Tourismus AG", the OC is led by Selina Döringer (Managing Director) and Fabrizio Gull (Deputy Managing Director), as well as on the part of the association "Visp VGT" by Co-President Trade, Nicolas Kuonen and Co-President Tourism Ulrich Werlen, and by the Managing Director of Visp Trade and Tourism, Heike Bruchertseifer. The OC will be supported by representatives of the corresponding specialized offices of Visp and Moosalpregion.

Frankiny becomes ambassador
The technical director of the Tour de Suisse, Kurt Betschart, who had come to Visp especially for the media conference, was highly satisfied with the state of planning. Furthermore, the professional cyclist Kilian Frankiny was also involved in the preparations. The professional cyclist from the Upper Valais, who became a professional with the BMC Racing Team in 2017 and has been competing for the French team Groupama-FDJ since 2019, will be an ambassador for the two Tour de Suisse stage towns and will thus help to put together an unforgettable cycling weekend. In this role, he will still be vigorously promoting the big event: "The route up Moosalp is one of my favorite climbs in the Upper Valais."
